We're a small mograph studio, working for mograph and postproduction companies abroad, and on personal projects for festivals and such. Our studio is headed by Tomás García and Fernando Sarmiento, one of us (Tomás) comes from the field of design and the other (Fernando) from the world of cinema, postproduction and VJing. We came together after working on the film "The Aerial" by Esteban Sapir, which opened this year’s Rottedam Int'l Film Festival. We enjoyed both our work so much we decided to team up and provide motion graphics and post-production services to the best clients we could get ahold of...
Where do you work? What do you do there?
We’re based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We work on an office in midtown, directing alongside 3D animators, designers, writers, editors and creatives, of all types. We just love creating new stuff and facing new challenges...
How long have you been in this field?
Tomás and me work in this field for years now (almost 7, I guess). But always in different fields, be that web programming/design, gamemaking, fx compositing, direction, Vjing for live events such as Creamfields, etc.etc.
What role did (are) you play(ing) in the project?
I'm currently an executive producer and creative director @ Sägas. Tomás is more in the directing role right now.
What was (is) your inspiration for this project?
We're always being inspired by everything that surrounds us. We're in a constantly evolving digital environment. The world of motion graphics and shorts and animations just never stops, and techniques and hard work are what really inspire us into creating new ways to resolve technical issues and tell stories. We just love telling stories. And designing cute stuff for them.
What is in your equipment/gear setup?
Computers and twelve smoking cigarette monkeys.
We generally work with 3DSMAX and Discreet Combustion, Photoshop and some AfterFX.
What are some websites you visit daily?
We daily visit:
Newstoday
Motionographer
Computerlove
Design is Kinky
Nintendo.com
Who's work do you most enjoy?
We love Psyop's works, BUCK, BNS and just everything Michel Gondry directs. Joshua Davis, Kuildoosh, Phunk, Matt Pyke, Shepard Fairey, Spielberg, Lassater, and the list could go on and on... And of course, let’s not forget Spielberg, Disney… and Pixar!
What advice can you share to people just getting into this field?
To never stop what you are aiming for. The road can get rough, by many reasons, and entering a business as demanding and challenging as this may not be for everyone but if it’s something you yearn and have in your loins... then you're gonna get somewhere. Just never surrender, never retreat!!!! Van Damme didn't!
Any other comments?
We like lollypops and strawberry milkshakes when we go pole dancing.
