Simone Magurno
http://www.whereissimone.com Biography
I'm 23 years old and uneducated in the art field. I've developed my interest for digital media since when I was younger, when I used to shoot and edit street skating movies with my friends.
With the years my interest developed into passion and I started to broaden my knowledge and explore new fields of expression such as photography, graphic design and web development.
Where do you work? What do you do there?
Currently I'm studying Digital Media at Hyper Island in Karlskrona, Sweden. It consists of a 90 weeks course which will offer a deep insight on all the aspects of content production with digital medias, focusing on team building and working in groups. After the taught course, a 30 weeks internship is planned.
In the school every two or three student share a cell (the school was a former prison), so we spend the most of the time there, working on different assignments and personal projects.
How long have you been in this field?
I've been interested in Digital Media since i had my first computer (around 1999) but I've been become more aware of all the different aspects of digital media just in the last few years.
I've definitely struggled for a while trying to get out of my clumsiness stage, and develop a clearer style in my works.
What role did (are) you play(ing) in the project?
I'm mainly a designer, but i enjoy developing whole projects on my own, learning different techniques and pushing my boundaries. Every time i see a different perspective.
What was (is) your inspiration for this project?
Inspiration comes and goes constantly. Its all around us, but my greatest inspiration source are other designer's works, music and personal challenge.
What is in your equipment/gear setup?
I have a Mac Pro back home, but since i've moved recently to Sweden i had to get a MacBook Pro.
I've recently ordered a Wacom tablet, but never used it before.
I also have a Nikon D200, which comes handy for photography.

Who's work do you most enjoy?
There's definitely a lot of talented people out there. Some of my greatest source of current or past inspirations have been Peter Jaworowski, Théo gennitsakis, Markus Karlsson, Mauro Gatti, Ravi Vasavan, Justin Maller, The KDU.
What advice can you share to people just getting into this field?
I'm quite new to the business, but one thing i discovered recently is the power of networks.
Right now i try to keep in touch with the most people i can. Networks are great for a lot of different reasons: they are a constant source of inspiration and they can give a lot of exposure to you and your works, but mostly the are made of people that share your same interests and with whom you can confront your ideas, skills and view of things, even not design related.
Any other comments?
Take every new assignment as a personal challenge and learn something out of it.
