Nelson Balaban
http://www.xtrabold.net Biography
I'm Nelson Balaban, a 18 years old graphic artist from Brazil, currently living and working as a full-time graphic artist in the beautiful Curitiba. I discovered digital art 4 years ago, started messing out just for fun, that's when some people told me I got some talent. I believed in what they said, so I thought I should keep messing. The thing got serious and today I make a living doing what I like.
Where do you work? What do you do there?
I work at home, in one of the rooms I made as office. Of course, sometimes I receive clients and they seem not to be too fond about my decoration (laughs). I like to put some weird stuff on my walls, such as magazine pages, stickers and crazy posters, some old stuff too.
How long have you been in this field?
I've been working as a designer and graphic artist since 2005.
What role did (are) you play(ing) in the project?
I sometimes work as Art director, depending on the project, but as a freelancer my main role is graphic artist.
What was (is) your inspiration for this project?
I get inspired by simple things, or complex things. All my stuff has a meaning, without it, it wouldn't exist. Everything you do has a meaning, even if you don't realize. I love typography, photography and graphic design, quite enough to get inspired to do some art.
What is in your equipment/gear setup?
iMac 20" 2.16 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM 667, 256GB HD.
What are some websites you visit daily?
NTMY,
Computerlove,
Digital Abstracts,
Behance Network,
Myspace and last but not least,
Orkut :)
Who's work do you most enjoy?
The work from the
KDU (Keystone Design Union) team.
What advice can you share to people just getting into this field?
Trust the future, trust the KDU.
Any other comments?
Thanks for the opportunity, keep up with the great work.
