Radim Malinic
http://www.brandnu.co.uk Biography
I'm a freelance illustrator, art director and designer based in Southampton, the United Kingdom and I absolutely love what I do. Five years ago I didn't have an idea what I wanted to do for the living.
I could use a few software packages so I got a job as designer. Little did I know, it would snowball from there this quickly and this much. Having dedicated the last few years purely to my job, it has paid off, big time.
Where do you work? What do you do there?
I work from home, from a no-so-big studio but I couldn't be happier. As any other busy artist
I more or less live in the front of the screen or wonder from meeting to meeting. Most of my current
and recent work has been illustrations of various kind, ranging from advertising to music releases,
interior murals, magazine covers .. the list can go on. I also still keep in touch with the 'pure' graphic
design side of things and my current ongoing projects include art direction of 3 different magazines.
How long have you been in this field?
Graphic design from 2003 and illustration since early 2006.
What role did (are) you play(ing) in the project?
I am an art director, illustrator and graphic designer.
Kind of jack of all trades to keep me happy and interested via the diversity.
What was (is) your inspiration for this project?
Mainly the shapes, colours and the feel which you get out of day to day life observation.
I guess it's all about little things that trigger off the creative thoughts.
What is in your equipment/gear setup?
2.66 Xeon Intel MacPro, 7GB RAM, 180GB, 20" Apple Cinema Screen, broken scanner:( and a mighty Bose Speakers. One of the biggest advantages working alone. No one whinges about the song selection or the volume!!! Software-wise CS3 is my main package.
What are some websites you visit daily?

Who's work do you most enjoy?
I appreciate work of various people from various fields. It really varies from stand up comedians, visual artists, musicians, photographers ... to give examples, I'm currently digging Steve Hughes, Non-Format, Fink - Distance and Time and my all time favorite Diana Luganski.
Her images are always a step ahead of the rest.
What advice can you share to people just getting into this field?
My motto goes like this: I wake up everyday eager to learn something new, longing to break another rule in the book, wow clients while ensuring every new piece I finish is better than the last one before. Neverending evolution and passion for perfection is my daily drive.
