Overview
Luca's got tons of super human skills when it comes to drawing faces. I love it. He mixes his traditional pencil art with hot and colorful illustrations. Ends up as an awesome and unique combo.

I'm Luca Laurenti. Since I was very small I always like to design and until the existing of pencil I think I always design.
Where do you work? What do you do there?
At the present time I live, work and study in Rome. A part of my main basic work is at the office design studio Mekkanografici Associati. The remaining comes from my personal listings. Mainly I work in the publishing trade and in the fashion industries, as illustrator, graphic-designer and creative director. Lately, I'm the only Italian member in the KDU, a creative collective with over 500 members working in all design disciplines and beyond. I try not to have a fixed style, but to adapted it according to what I want to communicate. For example, the latest Taschen's book that I worked for, Illustration Now 2: there are four of my illustrations inside, all different from one another.
How long have you been in this field?
On the football field I lost faith, but I'm a great number 8. In the artistic field, for five years in a professional way.
What role did (are) you play(ing) in the project?
Mklane is a nickname that I carry with me since I was 18 years of age. Maybe one day I will cancel it. Now "mklane.com" is the place where I can show a small part of my portfolio. That I hope to update soon.
What was (is) your inspiration for this project?
The inspiration is something unpredictable. Comes and goes constantly. And sometimes it comes to you as a surprise, without admonish...
What is in your equipment/gear setup?
Soft lead pencils and a packet of white paper, colors pencils, acrylic, brushes, old magazines and my notebook.
What are some websites you visit daily?
Freshcut
Frizzifrizzi
The Stylepress
TheSerif Publishing
Apple trailers
Who's work do you most enjoy?
Stefan Sagmeister, Peter Saville, Marc Atlan, Geoff McFetridge, Hugo Pratt.
What advice can you share to people just getting into this field?
Dedication. And not let yourself get involved in the modern fashion. Before and after they pass.
Any other comments?
Take a white paper and a pencil. Start drawing what you see.
